On page SEO
Let’s start with the meta tags in the page header
Meta Title tag:
Length 5 to 7 words relevant to the page under 64 characters
Meta Description tag
10-20 words in length again relevant to the page
Meta KeyWord Tag
Five or fewer relevant keyword/phrases you can also use SEPS here if Google is your target search engine.
Don’t stuff your page header with unnecessary Meta tags.
Page Text
Using your <H1> <H2> <H3> heading tags is a must use CSS to style them to your domain.
Also use <B>bolding</B> <STRONG>STRONG <U>underline</U> <EM>Italic</EM> Italic Tags taking care to only use them appropriately
Placing Quotes around text is an underused technique.
Make sure your page title description keyword/phases are unique to each page and complement each other as this is what people will see on the search engine results page unless the search engine pulls a snippet from the page text.
Your page text should also be made up of unique quality relevant information that is useful to your readers try and use around 300 to 500 words in your content but at all costs avoid just adding words to bulk the page up at times less equals more.
Keyword/phase density is becoming irrelevant but everyone seems to think between 3 and 9 percent dependent upon the search engine I believe all this has or will be replaced with SEPS and LSI in all the search engines so I see this as irrelevant if your page is on topic. In my eyes LSI is still a unproven SEO subject.
Images and ALT text naming use up to 7 words that describe the image (remember its real use is for the visually impaired)
Anchor text, use your keyword phase in anchor text on the page at least once.
File names, this can give you a small boost if your file name matches your main keyword/phase these names can be split up with hyphens.
And as the ink dries on the page so the information becomes outdated because the search engine algorithms update almost constantly.
